As well as reteo going through all frustration of trying different things. Everyone plotting hypothetical ways to kill jargon. Cetain blackhat activity towards of a certain state's certain department's web server by a certain pair." -RetroTech

Attendance count: About 10

July 2006

I'm not too sure what happened at this meeting.

Attendance count: About 15

Attendance count: About 40

May 2006

January 2006

Etherape and Ethereal were played around with. Nak updated some firmware for a remote router, we like doing favors. Penguin got to browsing 4chan and we came across several crazy pics and annimations invcluding Two Crazy Robots. Penguin brought his Toshiba tablet running windows 95 after an upgrade from 3.1.

Attendance count: About 7

December 2005

This meeting was a little larger than the last. The meeting was pretty much a card printing/writing/reading extravaganza. l3gitimateuser and associates brought all kinds of goodies. They brought a smart chip reader, a Fargo card printer, and a mag strip writer/reader. We were able to read a phoenix metro bus card, and find the expiration date in the data. One could change this date and re-enable a card with a writer of such, it doesn't appear that our bus system employs a checksum system, not that we would know or anything :). We later headed over to get something to eat (Mexican food this time).

Attendance count: 15-20

November 2005

This was a much smaller 2600 meeting. We were moved to a different room at UAT. Zapperlink brought his PSP and talked about some of the cool unconventional things that could be done with it. Zap also brought an Intel goodie. Rax brought a live Project Looking glass, but the computer at UAT wouldn't boot it. Dual Parallel brought some phone numbers. I did another demo of the blue/red/silver box. We collectively made a bunch of stupid jokes at the expense of the movie Hackers, it may have something to do with the fact that there is a rave coming up using the name hackers. After the meeting, most of us headed to YC's to get something to eat, revelations were had by most. Then about half of the group headed to Counter Culture for a little while.

Attendance count: 10-12

October 2005 hangout

This was just Ugly and I meeting at Nicks. We later drove to Apache Reclemation and browsed the place. Ugly bought a transformer (115V primary, 12,000V secondary). There was some really cool gear there.

Attendance count: 2

October 2005

This meeting took place at UAT. Nak and MadManX brought their cardreader devices and got them working at the meeting. Somebody else brought some embeded gear that they were trying to get to work. I brought my basic stamp with a combo blue/red/silver box programmed into it. After the meeting a few of us (Legitimate_User, Sgnome, Empty, and I) went to Subculter cafe to get something to eat.

Attendance count: About 25-30

September 2005

I don't remember a whole lot about this meeting. This meeting took place at Nicks Pizza. Rax gave RetroTech a server for the phx2600 pbx project, although retro has since pulled out of the project.

Attendance count: About 15-20

August 2005

Our last meeting at Borders. ZEROcool brought his Xbox, we didn't get the chance to softmod it due to Nicks not having the remote for their TV. Zapperlink brought his PSP with some more "updates" straight outa Japan. Rax brought hacker stickers in several languages. There was talk about defcon. We traveled over to Nicks pizza early. Jargon had a presentation on gambling. We tripped out w/3D glasses and an oldskool laptop. IamtheEvil1 rode on the mechanical horse for his B-day. What was left of us headed over to Counter Culture to chill for a little longer. What was left of that crowd (Zapperlink and I) went to IHOP.

Attendance count: About 20-25

July 2005

2600 hangout (2550 meeting)- We met at nicks pizza. Some gear brought was a cable card, some shims, and a nice new bootable distro of WHAX. WHAX didn't work to well on a sony laptop though. We "picked" a combo lock with the shim. Later on Ugly and I went wardriving to the Sonic Drive-ins, no luck though.

Attendance count: About 7

July 2005

We met in the back of Borders this time (we were on the schedule!). LosT brought his soldering station and some embedded network components to solder together, so we had a little soldering workshop. People that didn't know how to solder, and wanted to know, knew by the time they left. We did some general talking about embedded systems and talked about Make magazine a little. There was talk about defcon 13. We later went to Nicks, surprisingly enough, I think the group got bigger when we met there. While at Nicks, Nak busted out his ham gear and evil1 and Nak were talking to random people the could find through the waves. We had some talk about the stumble upon toolbar. Lots of creative discussion about barcodes (later in the night). After a while, Nak came back around and we had some pre-4th of July celebrations with a block of sodium. Maybe next time: Soap in a microwave }:>

Attendance count: About 15-20+

June 2005

We are now getting to big for the Borders coffee shop; they want a group our size to be scheduled. So, we are going to get on the schedule. In this meeting we had a lot of gear donated to Zapperlink for a group community project: Making a emulated gaming system for a daycare. Rax did a presentation on a replacement OS for LinkSys WAP/Router. ZEROcool brought an ipod with Linux dual booted on it (it didn't have sound support though, funny irony). Colin brought a super rugged lappy.

Attendance count: About 25+

May 2005

Retro brought a 286 lappy and hot glued some shinny stuff to it. Rax brought a mac with Tiger. Nak brought his ham gear and used the autopatch method to call my cell. LosT brought a bunch of embedded web server gear. Zaphraud brought his cantenna, made from a pringles can. I handed out a few vip 2.0 prototypes for people to test. After that, half of us went the Nicks Pizza and had a bite to eat.

Attendance count: About 25

April 2005

RetroTech brought his Tandy laptop, it had DOS 3.3 and only 7 files on the "storage" space (50K worth). The lappy boots up in less than 5 seconds though, the video should be up on the April 2005 pictures page. We fixed the power adapter by soldering it back together. I tried a floppy drive hardware hack, but screwed up, now retro has no floppy...sorry retro. Zapperlink brought a PSP and showed us a browser hack for it. Sgnome brought a huge antenna, there should be pictures of it. Nak and his buddies brought a ham radio. Also, greyarea was there, cool he could make it this time. Oh yeah, Zapperlinks daughter (Trinity) tried out picking locks...she's not even 2 yet!...again, pictures on the picture section :)

Attendance count: About 22

March 2005

Fun meeting, probably the most disorganized yet too; we never really formed one big table together like we usually do. Rax brought knoppix through the looking glass edition (has it worked on anyones box yet?). I took my toasted netgear router, and I also brought some security screwdriver bits. Lockpicking was in fashion again, I guess this is just a phx2600 tradition; some hackers like dumpster diving, some hackers like phreaking, some hackers like trains for some reason...we still like all of that, but we really like picking locks.

Attendance count: About 15

February 2005

This was a very well attended meeting. No real theme this time either, but many people brought much gear. Iamtheevil1 brought some phreaking toys, including a cool old handset with alligator clips. Rax brought along a Mac mini and booted it up for us to use. RetroTech brought his old radio to do an antenna mod right at the meeting. In the circle I was sitting in, talk ranged mostly around programming (Java and C# predominately). I also brought along the locks (8 of them) and picks since Surface_Tension wanted to learn, and that he did, he worked his way up to the master lock, along with some other hackers. Most of the lock picking was done when we went to Nicks' Pizza...Pizza and lock picking.

Attendance count: About 20

January 2005

There was no real theme to this meeting. Rhy0t got me back into lock picking from last months meeting, so I brought 5 locks and a couple sets of picks. Many people at the meeting were able to pick up the skill in practically no time. iamtheevil1 whipped out one of those random number generating authentication devices, so that was cool. I also talked about a way to get around Napster, with it's disadvantages though. Rocket from Interz0ne attendend this meeting (correct me if I got the handle spelled wrong), he seems to drop by once a year. Afterwords, a lot of us went over to Nicks 24/7 pizza like usual.

Attendance count: About 10-11

December 2004

It seems the theme of this meeting was barcodes. I brought in about 30 "universal" VIP cards that have a VIP code for 3 different grocery stores, the other barcode is an "easter egg." RAX brought his scanner and a laptop equip with some java software that can decode the 2d barcode on the back of a drivers ID, so we played with that. dec33var brought a few 1d barcode scanners with him. Zapperlink had some great info on Krypto. Also rhy0t brought some lock picks and a couple locks, we tried picking them for a while, she was the only one to get both locks, a few of us got the easier master(?)lock (I got it, yay me).

Attendance count: About 12-15

November 2004

There was a good deal of gear that came to this meeting. I brought the Zenith 286 laptop with a snazzy monochrome screen saver programmed by Medicine_Soup. Rax brought an optical mouse (to gut out) and a cuecat. ArchAngel brought a bunch of tone dialers and handed them out. RetroTech brought some old software on floppies for the laptop. I also brought my OOPIC again. There was a lot of talk on retro computing and some talk of urban exploration (we thought about looking around the abandoned restaurant a few shops down, but that never materialized). After that, most of us cruised over to Nicks Pizza and got a bite to eat...well, we also tried screwing with their pay phone too (602-240-9970).

Attendance count: About 15

October 2004

Special Agent Tom Liffiton was present this time, it made for a more interesting meeting. We discussed some P.A.T.R.I.O.T ACT issues with him; predominantly the "library" one. He also discussed the priorities of the FBI, a few of them not being RIAA and MPAA. There was also some brief discussion on the Bernie S. and Kevin Mitnick cases. It was also interesting to hear that Special Agent Thomas Liffiton is a listener to BinRev and RFA; he inquired about HPR. It's nice that there isn't completely the "us vs. them" mentality, and the reality is true sometimes too. There were a couple of new faces to this meeting, including my good friend Medicine Soup.

Attendance count: About 12

September 2004

Special Agent Tom Liffiton was supposed to show up again, but again, didn't. That's ok though, he's probably very busy. We confronted the suspicious "FED" guy that is always there with a notebook. He says he's writing a Sci-Fi...yeah, mmkay.

Attendance count: About 12

This is when our location became official according to 2600 magazine. Dual_Parallel was scheduled to demo his ghettotooth program. There was also a showing of "The Code - Linux." We had very quite computer speakers though, so the people that were interested had to have focus.

Attendance count: N/A

December 2003

Dual_Parallel did a presentation titled "Building Boxes on a Barrio Budget." There was some really cool hardware included in the presentation and it went over really well. I brought my stun glove and used some metal to arc the contacts to show the gloves destructive ends.

Nada mucho went down. It was me, slipNaway, and meme. ...oh and an undercover fed.We chatted about sgiX and Unix platforms for doing graphics and CAD type work. The fed was sitting right next to us and kinda made the whole group uncomfortable, so we all sought refuge within Gameworks.

March 2002

Final Fantasy in Divx, a Compaq 286 laptop, and a new project Hacking Gameworks. Rax, Kondor, and myself went wardriving, or wilding as Rax likes to call it, one week after the meeting. We found a couple of networks, but didn't get an IP. We'll talk about our zany antics in the March 20 episode of Radio FreeK America, and possibly publish the locations and SSIDs we find.

You owe it to yourself to check out the music of some 2600 attendees. Hardwire and Fred from Ikonoklast came the Jan meeting. John B. from BLESSEDBETHYNAME came to the Dec meeting. Get your fix of industrial/hardcore/metal/tech at the links above. Also, shout outs to first timers Liberty and slipNaway.

Sunday after the meeting, I went to park-n-swap (the big one at the dog track) and picked up some great stuff. I got a 33.6 external modem for $4, a cat-5 cable for 50 cents, and a couple of caller ID boxes for a few bucks. One box, a US West 99-memory model, was full of interesting numbers.
